EY promotes first female EMEIA leader


Julie Teigland becomes the first woman to be appointed as EY’s area managing partner for Europe, the Middle East, India and Africa (EMEIA)

In the role, which Teigland will take up on 1 July, she will command more than 115,000 people across 98 countries.

The EMEIA region is EY’s second largest geographical region by revenue, worth $13.9bn (£10.6bn).

She will also join the EY global executive committee, the firm’s highest leadership body. She will become the sixth woman on the 19 strong committee taking the proportion of women on it to 31%.

Teigland is currently the regional managing partner for Germany, Switzerland and Austria, where she achieved average revenue growth of 9.4%.

She has been with EY for more than 17 years and has more than 28 years’ experience within the industry, working in both the assurance and tax service lines and has also served as lead partner for many Fortune 500 companies.

She is also EY global leader for women, a member of the UN Equals Advisory Board and involved in the Women 20 (W20) – the G20 engagement group forming a network of women’s organisations.

Teigland succeeds Andy Baldwin who will become EY client services managing partner.
